Big Chinatown restaurant looks to squeeze into smaller space
By adamg on Wed, 03/09/2022 - 11:55am
Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Hei La Moon on Beach Street has posted signs on its doors that it'll be moving into the smaller Food Opera food court that is supposed to be replacing Chau Chow City, but which has run into financial difficulties.
Hei La Moon is on the first floor of that old parking garage off the Greenway that a Toronto developer wants to replace but keeps changing its mind about just how to do so.

Glad to hear this.
Hei La Moon has great dim sum but the current space is too noisy to enjoy it. The old Chau Chow City space on Essex is wonderful and has balconies.
I’m sorry we lost Chau Chow City but glad we won’t be losing Hei La Moon.
the workers are all being stuffed into closets
so why not the restaurants
Will they become a stall in
Will they become a stall in the food court, as Boston Restaurant Talk speculates? That's a little unfortunate for what was a big comfortable space that hosted functions, but it's better than losing them entirely.
Hei La Moon wouldn't be my choice for stalls...
...but I still miss the old Chinatown Mall. Every day.
That garage is scary
I swear the scariest parking attendants worked there.
