The steeple is flashing blue.
The steeple is flashing blue.
Here's a little poem to remember the color codes
Steady blue, we pray for you.
Flashing blue, Jesus due.
Steady red, temptation ahead.
Flashing red, damnation instead.
Just how that shot works...
I took a very similar picture ten years ago - reflection of the old Hancock and all - must have been standing in nearly the same place.
Dude, that's fantastic!! So
Dude, that's fantastic!! So great how a simple glass building with slightly funky angles can play all kinds of visual tricks on you as you move around the city.
I always said that a church
I always said that a church is just a bad insurance company.
LOL, that's great! So much
LOL, that's great! So much more along these lines could be said about a mirror reflecting the true soul, etc.
True Beauty
That's what makes the Hancock Tower so beautiful. IM Pei's genius design for this massive tower next to historic buildings is probably one of the greatest solutions for this problem in modern arch. history. Every time I walk through Copley Square, I can't help but stop and take a picture of it from a different angle every day.
Also, I love the joke about the church being a bad insurance company. =P
Great shot Great
Great shot
Great building(s)
I was coming up the Xway the other day at sunset and the Hancock was reflecting a beautiful spectrum of dusky colors
To the south
Every so often, we get an incredibly dramatic Hancock at sunset.
That's because it's not
That's because it's not reflecting the church; it's reflecting the building with Marshall's etc. from across the street.
Nice try, but no. You're
Nice try, but no. You're thinking of 500 Boylston, which from the right angle can be reflected, but not in this case. The building in the reflection is the old John Hancock Building (200 Berkeley St). You can see here (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=200+Berkeley+St+Bost...) how the Hancock Tower is perfectly angled to showcase it (which was IM Pei's intent).
