I have sat on a jetty watching them pacman a school of minnows. These fish are eating machines!

If he was there a little longer, however, the seagulls would have moved in. Perhaps Mike Ross can invent something so that you can cast bread upon the waters and make sure the fish eat the loaves?

After about a week, he'll be back with his last loaf of bread and a landing net.

Man feeds fresh, grilled striped bass to Costello

Look at that video. An urban harbor in which you can see several feet down, which is safe for swimming most days, and which is teeming with sea life (my favorite was the whale who was hanging around the federal courthouse a couple of years ago). It is truly a success story.

It is also an example of why we need more, not fewer, quasi-public authorities (unless and until we get a legislature that is actually interested making things better for all, not just being re-elected). An agency of the Commonwealth could never have accomplished what MWRA has. An agency of the Commonwealth could not have rebuilt (with remarkably little fanfare) an entire international airport as Massport has.

I won't beat my dead horse any harder than that, but again, most of the major infrastructure successes around here in the last few decades have been accomplished by the quasi-public authorities, not the state, and that is not, in my opinion, a coincidence.
