Boos, walkouts at comic benefit as one comedian insults Trump and another insults everybody

The Herald reports on the boos Wanda Sykes got at last night's Comics Come Home cancer benefit at the Garden when she started insulting our impending commander in chief.
The Herald doesn't report on the walkouts that happened after she was followed by our own Triumph the Insult Human, Nick DiPaolo:

Why so these celebrities , entertainers , ect. think that their opinion is any better that anyone else's? Why do they think that they are smarter than the average bear ? Wasn't Cam Neely being against cancer a greater good than this person's disappointment on the election? Just stop it !

Person who gets money to stand on a stage and talk about stuff stands on a stage talking about stuff to raise money for charity -- yeah, that's totally narcissism. On a related note: who the fuck is this Tom Hanks guy, expecting people to pay money to watch him pretend to be someone else simply because people pay large sums of money to watch him pretend to be someone else. What a conceited ass! See also [your favorite sports figure] expecting people to watch him do something with his balls and [your favorite musician] thinking anyone actually wants to see music being performed. The sheer vanity of these people is staggering.

Sykes is getting front page Herald coverage and blasted for her set as an angry, black, cry-baby, libtard loser.
And yet their justification for DiPaolo is "This is just what he does, stop being snowflakes."
This is going to get much worse before it gets any better, folks.
Idiots all around
For someone who isn't a part of mainstream political strata, it's definitely palpable to see the racism that Trump supporters have unfortunately unveiled. On my way back home, some wimpy college bro spat on the ground after he walked past me (a notoriously racist gesture from here). Also heard an old schizo homeless guy utter an n-bomb at me. I don't really care for such antics given that when I channel my hate into something productive, I don't find it hard to impress. Here's hoping others do the same..
Hilarious to see a
Hilarious to see a conservative paper act like comedy experts. How many good conservative comedians are there again?
Most comics with political leanings punch up, afflicting the
comfortable. Conservative comics generally punch down, and so come off as mean-spirited bullies, deeply unfunny.
(I generally don't think of DiPaolo in this latter category, would be hesitant to judge his material based on a hearsay description. Per the Herald, he also defended Sykes onstage after her set.)
Watch an episode of "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" sometime on YouTube, Fox News' mercifully swiftly-cancelled attempt to do a right-wing version of "The Daily Show". Truly painful.
Comedians political stances.
I wasn't one of those people who felt that those Hollywood peeps who said they were going to leave if Trump got elected, should still leave, but I found it funny when people like Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer went off the wall on Trump (or more specifially his anti-women comments), when those two made a living of Comedy Central Roast type events that are pretty much locker room talk X100 events. Both comedians were much more self-depreciating, but in the end the comedy is the same.
I always thought Dave Chappele and Key and Peele made comedy that the right wing would find funny. In the back of my mind if those two/three were doing sketch comedies that were produced by whites, they would most certainly have been labeled "racist".
Wanda Sykes is different I think in that she kept most of the racial/gender comedy on level and clean, so I would give her more of a pass with her Trump comments seeing how she is at least consistent with her own comedy.
Sykes cannot do political comedy though. Telling the crowd "fuck you", fuck you...., etc, etc is easy and cheap.
Whatever happened to
Dennis Miller? We have our disagreements but he was ridiculously funny.
9/11 changed Dennis Miller from a liberal to
a conservative, and from a sometimes funny comedian (with a very one-note shtick) to an almost entirely unfunny one.
The difference in reaction was embarrassing
I was there. Denis Leary took shots at Trump in the opening and that was fine but when a black woman included "angry white men" the boos started raining down. The same people that booed Wanda Sykes and were yelling "it's not funny" or "this isn't the place for politics" were the same ones cheering on Nick DiPaolo when he called Hillary a felon.
It's a comedy show, you gotta be able to laugh at yourself. Plus it's the week after a Presidential election, of course someone is going to bring it up. Comedians talk about current events, this is not a new phenomenon. As I expected in the moment, Leary ripped the crowd a new one when he came out after Sykes.

Is a hack and hasn't been relevant at all in the past 10 years.

That Gail Waterhouse's friend (the one who supposedly wrote the report tweeted above) was sitting in the audience with a notepad on her knee, pen at the ready when DiPaolo walked out. Probably told the teacher when kids were passing notes in class back in the 3d grade, too.
Many comedians are offensive. It's been that way since time immemorial. The Trump supporters shouldn't have freaked out at Sykes, and this anonymous person shouldn't have ratted out DiPaolo.
Screw that "No snitchin'" BS: if he said truly hateful things in
response to boo-birds, I'd like to know what they were. But as I said earlier, it's hard to judge based on some audience member's description of what he said: that's a pretty big filter to pass through.

Just one phrase here that always makes me wince
Which really has nothing to do with the subject, but I'm going to pick the nit anyway.
The president's constitutional role as Commander-in-Chief is over the armed forces, not the citizenry at large, and certainly not civilians. So unless we're all in the military, he's not our Commander-in-Chief.
It's a term that is too freely and frequently used out of context.

Not "our commander in chief" but "commander in chief" of OUR armed forces.
Comedic integrity
What's missing here is comedic integrity. These people stop being comedians when they believe that they are above the hypocrisy instead of part of it.

She didn't get paid. She flew out here at her own expense to participate in a charity event.
