Woman robbed at gunpoint at Roslindale strip mall

Around 9:30 p.m. at the strip mall at 650 American Legion Highway (the one with the discount stores, not the one with the Stop & Shop). The suspect showed a gun, grabbed the woman's wallet, then fled down the road towards Mattapan on a scooter or dirt bike.

The thing that crosses my mind when I read this story is...

This guy must be pretty desperate to chance going to jail...for, what? What could a woman have in her pocketbook? $100-150 tops?

There is a world of difference between a scooter and a bike. So which is it? Threat and larceny are not prosecutable in our county, and so why is armed robbery still is? (Maybe it is not already.)

So I guess you could call it a scooter - but not one of those scooters that Brookline allows.
