It's possible she was trying to escape a dangerous situation.

Ride share drivers are notorious for that as well. It's not common, but then, that's not what "notorious" means, is it?

The Globe said that it was a female driver of the car she was in and a male driver of the car that hit her. Both stayed on scene so that doesn't seem too likely.

The rideshare driver can't lock people into the car. She may have thought that she would be quicker to walk out of the tunnel - I saw someone do this last week.

Yeah, sorry, if someone insists on getting out of my car where it is not safe to do so, I'm not going to stop them and risk getting accused of trying to abduct them or something.

I'll request that they wait until we get somewhere safe, but I'm not going to lock them in or anything.

crosswalks are for pedestrians, and would the passenger not be a pedestrian at that point?

You're preaching to the choir here. I'm also a bike commuter.

Sad but true.
Until we restrict the tunnel to evehicles, etc.

The state police said this today:

The driver made an agreement to drive her fare to her residence in Boston for an agreed upon price.

So either MSP has no idea how ride share works or the driver and passenger agreed to not use the app and pay directly.

Unpossible!

Per today's paper:

"Top commanders resigned after ordering troopers to scrub embarrassing details from the arrest report of a judge’s daughter. Recruitment and promotion practices have come under fire following complaints of discrimination, racism, and retaliation.

Meanwhile, department officials have hid, destroyed, and lost track of records that could have exposed wrongdoing. A slew of troopers have been accused of breaking the law while both off- and on-duty, and the head of State Police payroll pleaded guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from the agency.

The biggest scandal has included 46 troopers implicated in a widespread payroll fraud scheme, in which 10 have been criminally charged."

Pretty much a mix of bad people and good people* who did nothing when tons of their colleagues did the wrong thing repeatedly.

* so at best, 'meh' people.

“According to Uber, there is no log of the ride and they believe the driver could have been soliciting rides or driving on her own.”

See this interview with the driver - she says she felt sorry for the woman and agreed to drive her to Mattapan after the woman knocked on her window at Logan.

Shifting blame to the car is passé.
