Gary Waldeck couldn't help but notice the MSC Meraviglia docked at the Black Falcon pier this morning. With a capacity of 4,500 passengers, it's the sixth largest cruise ship in the world - and the largest to ever dock in Boston.

(Tons of tour buses on the Greenway taking people from Black Falcon to Quincy Market. Probably a good day for the tourist traps there.)

NYC to Boston to Portland to Bar Harbour in late October is a risky cruise for bad weather let alone cold weather. For example, last weeks nor-easter, would be suboptimal for hanging out on a boat in the Atlantic.

Looks like its off for the Caribbean after this trip, which makes sense.

The transition from full-time cocktail party to part-time raiding party came with ease, and did much to add that extra bit of zest and swing to the whole affair which was badly needed at this point because of the enormous number of times that the band had already played all the numbers it knew over the years.

They looted, they raided, they held whole cities for ransom for fresh supplies of cheese crackers, avocado dip, spare ribs and wine and spirits, which would now get piped aboard from floating tankers.

The problem of when the drink is going to run out is, however, going to have to be faced one day.

It does look like it could be transformed into an interstellar liner somehow. I wonder if Boston Harbor's Black Falcon Pier could contain the world's largest cruise ship?
