A roving UHub photographer couldn't help but notice the DIY shielding now in place at Mama Supermarket at Blue Hill Avenue and Morton Street in Mattapan.

Confused
Everything appears to already be behind plexi/bullet proof glass.
To each his own!
Just the tip
The plexiglass is only on the top rack which holds cigarettes, a column on the left for candy bars and barrier around the lottery machine on the right. The middle section is wide open except for this DIY Coronavirsus barrier. It's mostly gas stations and banks that use that unfriendly full barrier bulletproof gas stuff in Mattapan.
All well and good but it
All well and good but it lasts on plastics for up to 3 days.
Tip
Don't touch the plastic and rub your eyes.
If you don't touch a surface (and/or your face) you'll be OK. The plastic protects the employees from direct spittle from customers which is the primary transmission vector.
So buying those candy bars are out of the question...
n/t
No
They are behind a plastic case anyway now covered in the plastic or tape, whatever it is. They normally hand them to you from behind the counter anyway.
It wasn't there last night
I stopped there on my way to work.
It was, but it was spread so
It was, but it was spread so taut you couldn't see it. Like a force field. For sneezes.
Stop and Shop has plastic shields in front of the register
It's a good idea and I saw a person disinfecting it after every customer..
There is a jewelry store in
There is a jewelry store in Fields Corner that has the front and back of the room seperated by glass and plexiglass with no door between the two. It occurred to me that stores like that would be the perfect pop up store... put the expensive stuff in the safe and lock it up and then set up the store front where all the rings etc were. Let people in one by one to do their shopping and your get them their bag.
loving this!
loving this!
I know it isn't a laughing matter but
This made me laugh.
But seriously at least they are trying to protect themselves and others. I don't know how effectively but at least they tried.
Fine design
Thats some fine-ass homegrown Kluge work right there!!!
Mental note to self...
They actually sell Whatchamacallits! Be sure to inquire if they carry Zero bars, quite possibly, the finest candy bar ever made.
