I'm genuinely surprised the driver got charged with murder
Makes me wonder if the driver knew the victim or if there's more to this story than your standard everyday negligent driving.

It pretty must has to be because no one really cares about pedestrian safety.
There has to be
Murder requires malice aforethought, right? So either the alleged perpetrator sought out the victim, or there were witnesses that the operator said/did something beforehand indicating they realized the victim was there and intentionally mowed them down.
And yeah, what cinnamon said, that the US and especially this area doesn't prosecute negligent operation.
