Staties nab a big dummy in the Expressway HOV lane - and his mannequin

Live Boston shows us the mannequin inside the car State Police stopped in the Expressway HOV lane this week in some motorists vain attempt to get to zip down the highway all by himself.
He's not the first to try the trick.

The State is much safer
Since the HOV lane was opened several years ago millions of dollars in police overtime have been spent on dummy prevention.

How to police self driving cars is a serious and unsolved problem. The law hasn't caught up with the tech much to the benefit to these corporations.
San Francisco is dealing with
San Francisco is dealing with this now. Some cars are getting in a lot of public safety shenanigans and while most get to their destinations, it is the few ones that don't that get all the attention. I heard a story on it on NPR yesterday, I think.
Supposedly putting a traffic cone on top of one of those cars
confuses the onboard computer.
I kind of doubt that's actually true, but if it is, South Boston will never have to worry about self-driving cars.
It does work, there's an organized group of people that do this.

How long would they have a watch a red light or a crosswalk before you see someone blow through it? But, yeah, given the choice, I suppose I'd rather sit there and wait to spot an expired sticker or a mannequin than go out looking for actual dangerous drivers.
