Exploding manhole shuts Harvard Square

Cambridge Police report a manhole exploded on Brattle Street in Harvard Square around 8:34 a.m. No injuries, but "Harvard Square is closed to vehicle traffic, and pedestrian traffic is restricted" and, really, police would prefer if you avoided the square altogether, even if you are parents moving your kid into a Harvard dorm.

Get with the times Adam.

Move in on the Yard pretty much ended last weekend for the majority of the freshman. This weekend is the river houses.

Original post updated, although I called them "dorms" instead of "houses," I admit.

After that, they live in "houses".

But to the rest of the world, they're still dorms.

The student residences are never referred to as dorms or dormitories. Main Yard has places like Straus Hall, Wigglesworth Hall and so on. The river has Eliot House, Kirkland House, etc.

And saw Wigglesworth, all I could think of was George Hamilton's alter character, Bunny Wigglesworth, in Zorro the Gay Blade

Yup, I'm old AF

Cafe Algiers caused many comparable explosions.

"If at all possible, people should avoid traveling through Harvard Square"

This is good advice any day of the year.
