Growing teens need their sleep, but police say three learned the parking lot of the Roslindale Wendy's isn't the best place for a snooze when you've stolen a car and have a loaded gun

Boston Police report arresting three teens they say they found in a stolen car and seizing a gun loaded with nine bullets and the wallet of the car's owner, in the parking lot of the Wendy's at American Legion Highway and Walk Hill Street in Roslindale early Saturday.

Police say arresting the trio - ages 15, 14 and 14 - was not difficult, because all three were asleep when officers arrived, directed there by the car's owner who was able to track the car's location after it was stolen.

Responding to the scene, Officers located the stolen vehicle parked in a rear lot with the engine running.

Upon arrival, Officers observed Suspect 1 reclined and asleep in the driver’s seat. They positioned their cruiser to block the stolen vehicle and requested additional units for support before approaching. Upon closer inspection, two additional occupants, Suspect 2 and Suspect 3, were also found sleeping inside the vehicle.

Officers secured the scene, gained access to the vehicle, and detained all three suspects without incident.

During their investigation, Officers discovered a loaded firearm - a Glock 30 .45 Auto Gen 4 with eight rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber - in a pocket of Suspect 2’s jacket. Additionally, Suspect 3 was found in possession of a wallet belonging to the vehicle’s owner, which contained multiple credit cards, membership cards, and identification.

Suspect 1 was identified as having an outstanding warrant for armed robbery and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.

Suspect 1, who, like the others, was not named because of his age, was charged with being delinquent for receiving a stolen motor vehicle and driving without a license, as well as for the outstanding warrant on charges of armed robbery and receiving a stolen motor vehicle, police say, adding he is from Hyde Park.

Suspect 2 was charged with being delinquent for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say, adding he is from Easton.

Suspect 3 was charged as delinquent for receiving stolen property and seven counts of receiving stolen credit cards, police say, adding he is from Brockton.

… I’m guessing.

Fortunately for the officers who may have encountered a more dangerous situation had these teens decided to go for double espressos at Starbucks instead.

So maybe junk food saved the day?

Glad this gun is off the streets, for the time being, at least. With help, these teens may be able to turn their lives around.

yea right.... it's likely too late for these 3. Kids decide who they're going to be around this age. They're in the system now and this is likely just the beginning of a life of crime.

.

The ones who should do hard time are the adults involved - like, the ones who likely put them up to this.

Putting juveniles in with the adult population is a certain recipe for training career criminals. What you would likely be punishing them for is growing up in a situation where nobody has ever given two shits about them.

Their parents/guardians have some explaining to do as well. Your kid isn't home at this hour and you haven't bothered to find them? Seriously?

I'm all in favor of naps, but there is a time and place.

Hypothetical conversation among the suspects;

Suspect 1, Driving: Great Criming guys!

Suspect 2, Just along for the crime: Yeah, this whip is sweeet. What do we do now?

Suspect 3, With the wallet: I know. Let's take a nap!

All: Great idea. Let's do this.
