Teen charged in connection with shooting in Almont Park in Mattapan
Boston Police report arresting a 15-year-old in connection with a barrage of gunfire in Almont Park that sent somebody to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm. A second suspect managed to flee the scene.
Officers received information that a group of teens were fighting in the area of Tennis Road and Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan. Upon officer’s arrival, the group of teenagers fled the scene on foot. A few minutes later, officers heard what they immediately recognized to be the sound of six to eight gunshots in the vicinity.
Officers observed two suspects flee on bicycles towards Favre Street, with one of the suspects discarding a fanny pack that immediately revealed the grip of a firearm.
Officers apprehended the 15-year-old male juvenile and placed him under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The second suspect made due his escape. The firearm was determined to be an American Tactical Semi-Automatic .22 containing ten rounds of ammunition.
The teen, too young to be identified, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, but was not initially charged with the shooting itself.
A witness reports he tried fleeing the scene on a Bluebike rental bike.
