Republicans once again try to dehumanize Haitians through slander

Dorchester Reporter publishers Bill and Linda Dorcena Forry (she was the first Haitian-American to be elected a Massachusetts state senator) state the obvious in a city with a large Haitian community.

Disgusting
The comments about Haitians from Vance, Trump, and other republicans is disgusting.
What's even worse.. is that report after report of this not happening what so ever, the GOP doubled down on it again.. and said it again.
These are clearly words to invoke the low IQ Trump voters to launch attacks on the Haitian Population. And it has..
Unfortunately since these morons only watch spoonfed media, you know there will be zero corrections be made on the air by the same hosts. So it will just continue.
You know what this reminds me of, the old racist thought that Korean People eat dogs. This is where I immediately thought of. This has been perpetuated over the years and now the Haitian population will now have this.. very incorrect.. thing attached to them due to some fucking racists fucks.
Disgusting. But then again, the man cannot talk about real issues and/or policy, so he resorts to firing up racist base instead.
Could come up with a list from history
First it was Native Americans ... then it was Chinese migrants, Japanese, Pilipino, etc.
Poor white climate refugees from the Dust Bowl were also said to have done the same when they landed on the west coast.
Then we went back to other reviled groups, including Hmong and Vietnamese immigrants.
Seems to be the historical go-to for any given hated on and marginalized ethnicity or refugee group for centuries.
We must be compassionate to
We must be compassionate to our immigrants and welcome them into our exceptional fold lest they buy into the current, politically profitable demonization of the American and Western traits and virtues that make us exceptional.
We, you, western values are not exceptional.
They go back to prehistory.
The loving couple
I like that they included the photo of themselves together, at the end of the article. It drives home the point that Haitians are just as much part of our community as Irish or any other group.
Springfeild
Where this all started.. in Springfield Ohio. A town that had been dying before the Haitians arrived. Now has been revitalized because of them. They all are hard workers, and want to work. I don't see what the problem is.
Same can be said for the Huong folks. I'm a huge fan of the Little House books, and come to find out DeSmet SD and Walnut Grove MN (both places from the books) now have a very large Hmong population and revitalized those towns.
The Ingalls' may have settled in DeSmet, but much like the Ingalls' quest for a better life elsewhere, the Hmong people are now doing the same in these small towns. Much like as Laura wrote in her books about communities coming together to help build DeSmet out of the "Long Winter" (Winter 1887).. and that spirit continues with the Hmong in DeSmet today.
People are just people.. looking for ways to better themselves. In the 1880s it was white people like the Ingalls', in the 1980s it became the Hmong population. Ebb and Flow.
Ohio
It's Springfield Ohio.
Fixed. Thanks
Fixed thanks.
My mind went to MO because I was thinking of LIW (who lived in Mansfield, MO, which is near Springfield)
One more thing
One more thing I'll add to this story.
Article on politico talked about how TFG says his latest shooting was caused by the rhetoric caused by the democrats.
Multi-page article. None a single word about Haitians. NOT A SINGLE WORD.
So Vance and TFG's rhetoric will cause the Haitians grief, which is fact. None of their comments about the democrats are based upon fact.
but again not a word about all the crappy things Trump.. and now Vance have said against the poor and brown people.
