CommonWealth Magazine did a precinct-by-precinct analysis of the results from last month's preliminaries, in which Andrea Campbell not only won a slot in the November finals, she came in first.

Wow - BPS, Boston Latin, Princeton, UCLA law and a service/policy oriented professional background. Hats off for wanting to go into public service and not just chase the $$$.
Not my district - but I'd like to see her join the younger group of Josh, Michelle, Matt and Ayanna - might actually start seeing some real changes around here.

Will happily revote my district councilor and 3 of the 4 at larges. Need to look at the non-incumbent at large candidate to see if I will cast a 4th vote - but probably.
She has the qualifications
but if she wins she ought to think about leaving the Boston City Council off of the resume. Burger king and ivy league just don't go together.
No surprise here
Campbell is the first candidate to run a modern and sophisticated campaign against Yancey. While the prelim results show what looks like a Campbell victory on the 3rd, Yancey still has SEIU 1199's political machine behind him. They have the resources, deep roots in the district and hundreds of boots on the ground that he needs to push turnout in his base.
An Open Boston City Council.
The worst of Boston City Council are the Central Council Staff that deflect/delay/deny enquiries instead of working with civic minded folks, encouraging their civic interests. It's the reason for being there but the appointees to that Office misperceive most others as violating turf. New City Councilors improve the chances of getting better qualified people appointed to that Office with better digital technologies/software talent/skills to open Council Data and Council Documents.

Yancey v Campbell
I live in this district. I have met Yancey a few times through my work & at Dot Day & have seen him around the area. He seems like a nice, amicable guy who seems to really care about his constituents, but heck, he's been in there since nineteen-eighty-fuckin'-three! I was eight years old playing Munch Man on a TI 99-4A home computer in 1983. That's too long to be a city counselor IMHO. Yancey has had a good run & deserves to relax & sip tropical drinks out of a pineapple on a beach in Florida or the DR. I'm voting for Campbell this time.
