Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man with three gun convictions on his record for last night's murder at 917 Blue Hill Ave.
Oscar L. Bolding, Jr., 42, was arrested on charges of murder, possession of a loaded firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, third offense, and illegal possession of ammunition, second offense, police say.
In 2007, Bolding, then a Fall River resident, was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in state prison after his conviction on a charge of carrying a firearm as a three-time convicted violent criminal.

The prison industrial complex and the criminal punishment system don't prevent harm. Bolding has been to prison before and he came out and has allegedly murdered someone. How many alleged murderers have been to prison before they allegedly murdered someone? There has to be a better way.
Might want to call it the GCPIC
Gun control prison industrial complex. The guy went to prison on a gun charge. I'm not sure how else you want to dissuade criminals from carrying guns -- counseling?
It's Hard
It's pretty hard dissuade people who have already been to prison (or criminals as you call them) from carrying guns or getting into trouble again. The dissuading needs to happen a lot younger. And yes maybe counseling at an early age along with other interventions like job opportunities would've kept Bolding out of prison the first time.
Whatever the remedy, the current system isn't preventing harm and isn't holding people accountable. There has got to be a better way.
Well, for one
we could make it actually difficult to get guns in this country, perhaps on the federal level so you can't just ignore Massachusetts gun laws by driving across a state line.
