FBI joins hunt for serial armed market robber in Hyde Park, Mattapan
The FBI has joined the Boston Police search for a man they say has held up four convenience stores at gunpoint in Hyde Park and Mattapan in recent months.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. In all four robberies, the individual brandished a distinct black handgun with a long barrel and made verbal demands for money.
The FBI released surveillance video from his robbery of SK Convenience on River Street in Hyde Park's Cleary Square on Feb. 20.

Pathetic.

All that effort...
And they didn't get the true gold mine of all those bags of Takis? Amateurs.
Just another worthless POS
What would have been great is if the clerk was armed and hurried him up to hell with a few slugs in his head.
A thankless job
This brings back memories of the Little Peach at the Monument in JP. The robber shot and killed the man behind the counter after he complied and gave the thief what he wanted. Still makes me mad.
I commented previously
on this subject but it didn't get posted, so I'll try again.
On an unrelated story about opioid addicts, many people commented to not judge them harshly etc. because they are struggling. I suspect that some of those same opioid addicts that we all should give a break to are the likes to rob convenience stores, gas stations, etc. to get money for their fix.
Comments here in this story say to give this guy two in the hat to alleviate the problem.
I'm saying that you can't have it both ways. Give the addict a break but condemn him for robbing at gunpoint.
I'm assuming that some do. I don't know that this particular guy is, but if that's the case, do we cut him some slack or suggest that the clerk take him out?
You can only act in the moment
Even if I'd seen this guy before and understood that he may have an addiction I can only respond in the moment to what is in front of me.
If I am looking at the wrong end of the gun, even if I know the guy is an addict, I am going to defend myself. Even more so if I know he cannot be reasoned with.
When faced with a similar situation I would wait for my moment to act or get the drop right from the start. We are both making a choice in the moment, he chose to threaten my life, I chose to defend myself which may result in ending his life.
People are too flippant with guns
In a roundabout attempt at agreement, people don't seem to take guns seriously. This can range from non violent gun safety to wielding it for robbery.
A pointed gun is a imminent threat of death or a lifetime of injury. In that moment, their backstory is irrelevant.
I think it would be reasonable to use whatever means are necessary, barring collateral damage to outside parties, to escape or survive the conflict (violent or non violent).
However, if one wants to take their backstory into account under the gun they can certainly choose to do so, at their own expense.
