Ticket stubs for two Pearl Jam shows, one at the Garden, one at the Orpheum

KTC won't forget where he was 30 years ago tonight - or 30 years ago tomorrow:

I spent my last evening at the old Boston Garden with Pearl Jam Cobain died a few days before and no one knew what to expect. The show started in pitch black, the 1st song Release. Epic. Saw them next night at Orpheum.

I believe Page and Plant was the last show at the Garden. My parents took me and Rusted Root opened.

People were ripping out the seats as souvenirs once the show ended.

I saw Miles Davis at his last Newport Jazz appearance before he died shortly thereafter. Music changers.

at Kix, a former disco in Kenmore Square, in 1981. I was working as a bartender at the Howard Johnson's, and Miles and Cicely Tyson were staying there.

The show was recorded, and released as We Want Miles. It is legendary in some circles, but I remember it as Miles standing alone at one corner of the stage, playing occasional unrelated solos while a very loud jazz-rock band made massive noise along side him. I've never listened to the album. I wonder what I would think of it now.

Today - the cost of fees and other associated nonsense exceeds the price of that ticket.
And yes, I know that everything is more expensive; but why is it that we can no longer walk up to a box office and buy a ticket for face value?

yeah there is the fact that capitalism has finished itself and everything is going to turn to chaos, which is obvious when you see the price of current concert tickets. its all over. really. it just has not caught up to people's brains yet.

The same thing is true everywhere. It's not just because of Don Law. The first concert where I remember paying a service fee at the box office was at the Oakdale Theater in Connecticut.

and called and called the phone number to get tickets for the Orpheum show. It was very sad. I was 13. At least it is on YouTube. They really have grown to represent decent manhood and citizenship in an exemplary way.

Didn't know what to expect? They played three times earlier that week, once in Sprinfield, all after his death... and this was the second show at the Garden that week lol...

It was 1994.

Unless bootleg set lists were being posted on Prodigy, it's entirely possible (and likely) that KTC didn't know.
There weren't fan sites and blogs and stuff like now.

I went to see Rush at the Providence Civic Center (Counterparts tour) on May 1, 1994, a few days before I would take my final final exams as a UMass Dartmouth student. I don't have the ticket, but I think we paid $26.00 for seats towards the back. The souvenir guide cost me $12.

The last time I saw Rush was for their Clockwork Angels tour in 2012 in Manchester, NH, I paid $60 for tickets. Yes, ticket prices have gotten a mite high.

$60 is a bargain these days for a legacy band like Rush. I paid over a hundred bucks per lawn ticket to take my kids to see the remnants of the Grateful Dead last summer.
