The folks at the Boston City Archives wonder if you can place this scene. See it larger.

Very wide street.
Confluence of the horse/car/trolley era.

Another pic to figure out where to put elevated trackways?

I'm going to make a wild guess and say somewhere on or around Tremont Street in the South End.

A Google search finds a book that mentions his shop at the corner of Harvard and Tyler streets -- but those are tiny little streets in what is now Chinatown, neither of them anywhere nearly large enough to be in this photo.

Waiting on the streets are too wide commentary.

That just says to me that this must be a street with a median on it now. Most of the wide streets in Boston that no longer have Trolleys seemed to grow a giant cement strip out of their centers. Sometimes speckled with giant planters. Could that place something like this in the outerlands like Dorchester ?

Tremont St is correct! This shows 1299-1303 Tremont St. The date is about 1898. To zoom in on details, click here: https://cityofboston.access.preservica.com/uncategorized/IO_b12d7213-f32...
